Greeting from the Gosford
City Bras Band Inc. As a valued supporter you will be interested to know in our activities, concerts and remaining activities
for 2005.
Our remaining concert program
this year includes only one remaining entertainment extravaganza at the Laycock Street Theatre. Be sure not
to miss this event and help us to raise much needed funds.
In September, following on
from our magnificent win at the Nationals, the band once again showed its class and musical excellence by taking out the Open
C grade title at the NSW State Brass Band Championships. This is a marvellous achievement and the first time in the Bands
long history that both National and State titles in an Open Grade have been won in the same year. The band has been elevated
to the harder and more challenging Open B Grade, a move that the band will relish with enthusiasm.
With plans under way to tackle
the National titles in Brisbane at Easter in 2006, the band is working hard to raise funds to assist us in the endeavour.
You can certainly help us by attending our November concert and coming to our garage sale on November 5th at the
Band Hall on Racecourse Rd, Gosford.
Our AGM is on October 23rd
at the band hall. Prior to the AGM commencing at 10:00am is the inaugural Norm Holloway Shield. This is an
event for musicians in the band to participate in a solo competition. It is divided into junior and senior event. You may
wish to hear some of our fine junior and senior musicians on this day. Just turn up on the day free of charge and stay a while.
Our remaining calendar of
events includes the following:
·
October 23rd, AGM and Norm
Holloway Shield
·
October 29th, Juniors to
perform at Narara Valley High School Fete at 10:30am
·
November 5th, Garage sale
at the Band Hall, Racecourse Rd, Gosford
·
November 13th, End of Year
Concert. This concert has a theme planned similar to our popular Brassed Off concert from 2004,
suitably titled BRASSED OZ. This concert follows the Wizard of Oz theme, jam packed
with many wonderful pieces of music you will recognise. Come and laugh, sing and tap your feet to the wonderful sounds of
your award-winning band.
We hope to see you at our
concert at Laycock Street Theatre on November 13th. We need your support so that we can continue
to grow and provide you with the kind of entertainment that you deserve.
You can make bookings for
the BRASSED OZ concert at any time in office hours by phoning the Theatre booking office on 43 23
3233. Don't forget to bring your friends. Ticket prices are $15 adults, $12 concession and $5 for children.
Thank-you and we will be
in touch again soon,
Mark Downy (President, GCBB)
